In 2018, we celebrated 160 years since the first successful transatlantic message sent from Valentia to Newfoundland on the first telegraph cable that operated in the summer of 1858. Our international line-up of speakers in 2018 reflected the importance of that first connection and the global significance of Valentia Cable Station.
